Twinkle! – iPhone, iPod Touch application review

It seems like everyone is Twittering these days and now you can keep better track of those you’re following by using Twinkle by Tapulous. The makers of Tap Tap Revenge have created an app here that is both easy to use and fun.

When it comes to interaction, this app provides it. All you need to do to begin is to create a username and fill in your email address. Now you can start posting!

It’s very much like Twitter in that you only have 140 characters to get across what you want to say, but it holds one distinct difference—Twinkle is all about connecting you with those in your general vicinity.

You can see what people near you are up to, view their pictures and even send them private messages or ping them. It’s a fun way to pass the time and connect with people you might actually see face-to-face one day.

However, you can sync up your regular Twitter account with Twinkle as well, just to keep everything in one convenient location.

Just a word of warning: there are often people either posting nude photographs or requesting that you rate their pictures on Twinkle. You can easily avoid these by choosing to block the users that post such messages, but it’s better to be forewarned, wouldn’t you say?

All in all, Twinkle is a decent app and it’s free, so there’s no risk involved. Just watch out for inconsiderate posters and people that pester you via private message. Clicking “Block” should be enough to get rid of them!
